East London’s Fine Print release their self-titled debut EP on B3SCI Records, August 28th. Bonded over a love of J Dilla and Shuggie Otis, the duo began creating music with the desire to blend the underground electronic music they grew up with and the old school pop song format. In late 2014, they shared two demos “About You” and “Can’t Lie” with much anticipation — eventually grabbing the attention of producer Dan Carey (Tame Impala, Hot Chip), who stepped up to mix the EP.
All four tracks from the EP have been gaining support across the board from KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic and Apple Music's Beats 1 to NPR's Heavy Rotation List for their unique blend of soul and electronic. “This recent rash of electronic infused nü-R&B owes so much to Thundercat, Dev Hynes, and the Weeknd, but even while channeling these influences, Fine Print manage to distance themselves from the pack,” says Stereogum.
